Project: Hoyt Peak Trail Closing Day
Location: Utah
Description: On September 9, 2026, Tread Lightly! joined the U.S. Forest Service Heber-Kamas Ranger District to close the Tread Lightly! adopted Hoyt Peak Trail for the season.
The seasonal closure helps protect the surrounding area during the upcoming wildlife breeding season and winter weather while supporting the long-term sustainability of the trail.
As part of the closing-day efforts, the team installed two educational signs and replaced stickers on existing Carsonite signs to help ensure visitors have clear, up-to-date information about responsible recreation and seasonal trail management.
The team also cleared debris from the trailhead and inspected the trail for recreation activity, cattle and trash. During the project, approximately 500 pounds of trash were removed from the area, leaving the trail and surrounding landscape cleaner for the season ahead.
Tread Lightly!’s adoption of the Hoyt Peak Trail represents an ongoing commitment to working alongside land managers to care for recreation areas throughout the year. From maintaining trails and educating visitors during the recreation season to preparing them for seasonal closures, these collaborative efforts help protect access, wildlife and natural resources for the future.
Thank you to the partners who made this project possible:
