Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Classic Science Fiction Archive (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. We may revise these terms from time to time; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. It is your responsibility to review this page periodically.
Use of the Service
The Service provides a curated catalogue of ebooks, reading notes, edition insights, and bibliographic commentary for personal, non-commercial enjoyment and study. You may download, read, and share copies of public-domain works where permitted by applicable law. All other uses, including republication for profit, redistribution of substantial portions, or any commercial exploitation, require prior written permission from the Collection Editor. Personal use includes printing copies for your own reference, sharing a single copy with a friend for discussion, or using excerpts in a non-commercial review. It does not include systematic redistribution, such as posting large numbers of files on another site.
Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use any automated means (bots, scrapers, crawlers, or similar) to access, extract, or monitor content from the Service without express permission. This includes any tool that sends automated queries, whether for data mining, archiving, or any other purpose.
- Interfere with the operation of the Service, including overloading servers or introducing malicious code.
- Attempt to circumvent any access controls, rate limits, or security measures.
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable laws.
Violation of these prohibitions may result in immediate suspension of access and, where appropriate, referral to relevant authorities.
Content and Copyright
The ebooks and editorial materials provided are offered in good faith as works believed to be in the public domain in the United States. Copyright laws vary by jurisdiction; you are solely responsible for verifying the legal status of any work before using it outside the United States. For example, a work that is public domain in the U.S. may still be protected in other countries. Editorial notes, reading guides, and catalogue entries are original works by the Collection Editor and are protected by copyright. They may be used for personal reference but not reproduced or distributed without attribution and permission. If you wish to quote a passage from an editorial note in your own non-commercial work, we encourage you to include proper attribution to the Collection Editor and a link back to the original catalogue entry.
Bibliographic and Transcription Limitations
We strive for accuracy in bibliographic data and transcriptions, but we do not guarantee error-free content. Some texts may contain typographical inconsistencies, missing illustrations, or variations from authoritative editions. You are encouraged to consult primary sources for scholarly use. The reading notes and edition insights provided are the result of careful research, but they are not substitutes for original source verification. If you encounter an error, we welcome you to contact us so that we may review and, if appropriate, correct the entry.
Third-Party Links
The Service may contain links to external websites. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or availability of those sites. Inclusion of a link does not imply endorsement. We recommend that you review the terms and policies of any third-party site you visit.
Availability and Modifications
We aim to keep the Service accessible, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without notice. We may also update these Terms of Use; the latest version will always be posted on this page. Changes may reflect shifts in legal understanding, user feedback, or operational needs.
Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. NO WARRANTY IS MADE REGARDING THE ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, OR COMPLETENESS OF ANY CONTENT. You assume all risk for any decisions made based on the content provided.
Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE COLLECTION EDITOR AND ANY AFFILIATED PARTIES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. This includes, but is not limited to, damages for loss of data, profits, or goodwill.
Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to any user who violates these terms, engages in abusive or disruptive behavior, or uses the Service in a manner that harms others or the Service itself. Termination may occur without prior notice, but we will typically provide an explanation upon request. If your access is terminated, you must cease all use of the Service and destroy any copies of materials obtained through it.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms of Use is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. The unenforceable provision shall be deemed modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable.
